Beyond Limits with Damien - The Science of Good Habits

This is somewhere we’ve all been at. Wanting positive change in our lives but can’t quite get there. All the times you’ve said, "Now I'm going to change something," or "Now I will start doing the thing I put my mind to." But you just can’t get it to stick and be a real part of your life. Or you're someone who has no idea what kind of change you need to make to perform better and get a step closer to your goals.

I was at the exact same point you are. First, I didn’t know what I should do to improve, and as soon as I understood what I should do, I didn’t know how to make it a part of my lifestyle. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not perfect now. I still slip up here and there, but that’s part of the journey of getting your life in order, so don’t beat yourself up over it. But in the next 3-4 minutes, I will tell you in what kind of areas you should start building habits in and what helped me sustain them over months.

The Right Habits to Add to Your Lifestyle

1. Organise your life

When it comes to habits that will better your life overall, I’d say adding structure to it is number 1. What I mean by that is start planning ahead! That does not mean only writing down your future goals; it means planning the steps you need to take day by day to get there. Every night before you go to bed, plan the next day. I personally use an app where I can add time blocks for everything I want to accomplish today. Doing that will give you way more purpose in the morning. A quick look at your phone and get to it. You will never stand there wasting time thinking about what’s next. So break your end goal down into day-to-day steps.

2. Exercise

What you should definitely add to your daily routine is exercise. First and foremost, your health is everything! If your health sucks, your dreams will crumble too. You don’t need to get big like a bodybuilder or be able to run a marathon in 2 hours. But just being fit is not hard! On the other hand, fitness will definitely give you more confidence in whatever you're trying to achieve. Going to the gym, running, or doing some kind of other sport over a longer period of time will give you discipline, and you will show yourself that you can be consistent, which is a key factor in everyone's journey.

3. Stay Up-to-Date
