Idolizing Streamers: Is It Making Kids Lazy?

Welcome to the second Hot Take of this week. Today, we’re diving into why we think idolizing streamers is making young kids lazier when it comes to their career choices. Disclaimer: we don’t think this is the only reason since this topic is huge, and there are many factors that influence the youth, but we believe that online streamers have a significant role in the development of our youth.

The New Wave of Streamers

So, let’s get into it. We think that when looking at streamers today, what gets pushed the most is degeneracy. For example, having 20 OnlyFans creators over and asking them stupid questions or just blatantly screaming at the chat for hours. This is considered entertainment now. These influencers are paid hundreds of thousands a month, so kids see this content and this type of life. Naturally, they idolize it. Think about it—it's not hard. Just being the biggest degenerate in front of a camera will get you more views, which equals more money. So why would you take a job in construction? It’s hard labor, and you will probably never make as much money as those streamers do. This has shown kids that being rich does not require hard work; it requires sitting in front of a screen for eight hours and contributing almost nothing.

When we compare streamers to YouTubers, there’s still a big difference. As a YouTuber, you need to record the video, edit it (or pay someone to edit it), and then upload it. Doing that on a regular basis shows dedication. Doing that still takes resources and effort. However, becoming a streamer, doing almost nothing, and knowing you will get more and more followers the more obnoxious you act should not be an idol in our opinion.
