Beyond Limits with Damien Developing Courage
Facing Challenges and Taking Risks to Pursue Your Dreams
One thing I have learned on my journey of becoming an entrepreneur is that without courage, your dreams will remain in your head. However, my personal experience has shown me that having courage and taking risks is not as easy as it sounds. You often have to deal with fear or self-doubt. These thoughts and feelings will slow you down and force you not to take the first step.
That is why, in the next couple of minutes, we will talk about courage. What is real courage, how will it affect your life, and how can you build your courageousness?
What does having courage mean?
Before we can talk about strategies to build your courage, you really need to understand what courage is. Many people think having courage means having no fear, which is absolutely wrong. Having courage means having fear but triumphing over it! It means fighting for your vision no matter the outcome. It's the choice and willingness to confront agony, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation. That doesn’t mean you never think about the repercussions but rather that you thought about them and you're willing to deal with them.
How will showing and developing courage positively affect my life?
If you can’t see the benefits from it, I will tell you how it was for me personally. When I think about the risks I took, I get excited and motivated, even though I’m not at my end destination. I took a step many never will, and that is to start. Having that knowledge gives me a huge sense of self-confidence. I'm not turning into someone who is cocky and thinks I'm better than others, but I'm definitely better than my former self. And since I'm out of my old comfort zone, I'm building a completely new lifestyle, new interests, and new people I talk to. Not everything is perfect, but when it comes to making my vision come true, this feels right. Because I can see my life changing in the right direction. So now, when it comes to you, think about where you're at and where you want to be. If you're not taking that first step, your life won’t change, and you will stay in the same place!
Your Weekly Mission !
What I want from you is definitely something you are capable of. And that is willingly stepping out of your comfort zone multiple times throughout the week. For stepping out of your comfort zone, you need courage, of course, not as much as making life-changing decisions, but courage is like a muscle that you can train it. Before the heavy lifting, you need a warm-up. You can start by making small changes in your routine, which will definitely feel weird but will give you a feeling of change in your life. Then you can do something bigger like starting a conversation with someone you know but never had an in-depth conversation with. Or talk about something you never talked about, for example, something you struggle to explain. The key is overcoming little fears so you can start focusing on the big challenges. But also be proud of yourself when you try the new thing; it doesn’t matter how minuscule it was, even a small step is a step closer to your goal. Last but not least, welcome failure instead of fearing it; first of all, you tried and with the right mindset, you will learn from it.
Now it's all on you; take this seriously and tell us about the achievements you made; only then you can truly push beyond your limits.
