No matter which device we use, we often turn to it merely to pass the time or because something fails to entertain us sufficiently, leading us to seek solace in social media. I say, sit with your thoughts. When was the last time you had to wait for something and simply sat there, lost in thought, or when a conversation ended and you both embraced the silence? I say it was when you were a child or without your phone. Nowadays, we frequently use our phones aimlessly. That's what needs to changeātraining ourselves to use our phones purposefully rather than succumbing to the urge to fill empty moments. So next time when picking up your phone do it with a purpose to consume valuable informations.
Clean Up Your Social Media
This is a challenging task. Go through your social media feed and assess which accounts truly provide value and which ones merely waste your time. Identify the accounts that keep you scrolling endlessly without offering anything in return. These accounts need to go! It's simply a waste of time. Of course, a bit of entertainment on social media isn't harmful. Not everything needs to elevate you, but too much of anything can be detrimental over time. Aim for 80% of your social media consumption to be useful and 20% for pure entertainment.
Set Internet-Free Hours
Try not to use your phone when going out or engaging in physical activities like sports. Don't completely shut out the world, but mute unnecessary notifications, allowing only emergency contacts to reach you. This way, when you do use your phone, it's for something genuinely important, not just because you felt the urge to check it. You'll find it refreshing because, over time, your conversations will improve without the constant need to fill the silence with internet distractions.
Use these techniques to disconnect from the internet, recharge your energy, and continue performing at the top level. Always remember, practice makes perfect.
